Jayne Friend

 

Jayne joined the Medway Little Theatre Youth Group and eventually progressed to a youth drama leader directing and acting in numerous plays and winning several awards at the Duncan Rand Youth Festival.

She then joined Alternate Shadows in 2009 and has since performed in countless performances, some of which have been entered into the Duncan Rand One Act Festival. Most recently she has teamed up with playwright and actor Steve Perrin to co-produce and direct the award winning ‘I wish I was special’ and subsequently the controversial ‘Cause and Effect’ which came third at the 2013 Duncan Rand Festival. 

Jayne has an honours degree in performing arts and studied at the London college of fashion where she gained a masters degree in costume design for performance. Jayne has worked with local theatre groups such as ‘play on words’ and ‘blunderbuss’ as performance assistant and costume maker before becoming physical theatre teacher for the star academy, Rochester. She has also worked with the creators of avenue q learning puppetry and studied stage combat. She has worked on the London production of phantom of the opera, bingo at the Young vic theatre London and as costume design assistant at the fuse festival in Medway. 

Jayne continues to perform with alternate shadows, hoping to continue being involved in local performance and to develop and direct original and edgy drama, whilst continuing her career in costume design.
