In Memory of Ben Harrison

11 May 1979 - 13 Jan 2013

Ben Harrison joined Alternate Shadows back in 2002 when we came across Cleave Warne Hall, Borstal and wanted to set up a base camp for ourselves. Having seen the Hall we found a stage which was no longer in use and a lot of ancient electrical bell wiring.

Derek Thompson brought Ben along to the Hall for advice and the Hall electrics to the stage were completely removed and renewed with new safe wiring and new lights were installed for use during Productions. We discovered that Ben's Grandfather had helped build the Hall and Ben remained with us from there on as Lighting and Sound man.

Ben's first show with us was Oct 2002 - Sketch Test Dummies - Cleave Warne Hall, Borstal, and his last was March 2012 - Month by Month There's Murder - original Murder Mystery for the WI Conference in Wainscott

Ben was instrumental in the early stages of our `Outreach ' Projects taking our theatre productions to places where there were no stages - producing lighting and sound wherever we went, in a variety of venues over the years, from pubs, church halls, schools, scout huts and tents.

`He had many skills within the fields of electronics and engineering, but will be remembered for the generosity of spirit with which he approached everything (and his never ending supply of horrendous jokes)'.
